Make money matter

It used to be simpler. You invested for gain and to avoid risk. But as the planet warms, the population grows, and scarcity stimulates migration, inequality, poverty, hunger, the real return on an investment and the true meaning of risk are being re-examined.

The goal of Make Money Matter Training is to develop interest in, and knowledge about, social investing tools and strategies to help high net worth individuals, family offices, and wealth managers make a difference. In doing so, Make Money Matter will generate new capital to support market-driven solutions that advance equitable and sustainable livelihoods.

An in-depth look at how Action Investing can make a positive impact on the environment, economic development, affordable housing, and social equity.

Make Money Matter Training works on two levels

Level One: Education

Make Money Matters educational content goes beyond abstract concepts and theoretical frameworks by diving into the real-world impact of investment strategies. Central to this approach is learning by reviewing and analyzing original content exclusively crafted for this program, including in-depth case studies that document current industry practices. These cases and additional materials will be expertly facilitated by seasoned practitioners who bring their firsthand experience in advising, managing, and assessing over US$15 billion in social investments.

Our intensive learning program will utilize a diverse range of online and in-person tools to ensure that program participants can maximize their learning experience. The program kicks off with full-day events in Chicago focused on real estate and the natural environment. Complementary pre-and post-event resources will also be readily available to attendees, serving as valuable guides for implementation.

Level Two: Converting knowledge to strategic action

Structural and organizational barriers often make it difficult to implement novel social investment ideas. The Make Money Matter Training offers a solution, granting program participants access to resources and networks to amplify their ability to do good while making money. These resources include:

  • Grant and impact investing portfolios, backed by partner foundations and family offices that have vetted projects, seeking to leverage their influence and drive change. This includes guidance on seamlessly integrating ESG factors into the due diligence process.

  • Tools and best practices for the impact measurement and management lifecycle, from entry to exit.
